Undetectable = Untransmittable (U=U)
An HIV positive person who is on treatment (taking medication as prescribed), seeing their doctor regularly and maintains an undetectable viral load, can have sex knowing that they won’t pass HIV to their sex partner. In short, when HIV is undetectable, it’s untransmittable.

What is PrEP & PEP?
HIV Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP) and Post-Exposure Prophylaxis (PEP) are medications that are used by HIV negative persons to help prevent HIV transmission during sex.
PrEP (Pre – meaning before) is taken prior to someone being exposed as a way of blocking HIV from establishing itself in the body.
PEP (Post – meaning after) is taken after someone has been exposed as a way of blocking HIV from establishing itself in the body.
